Now let's be clear on something. Most professionals themselves don't singwell from a technical standpoint.
So just to sing like a Pro doesn't meanyour singing properly or great, but I have to point out that no matter where you getyour information, think about this: the person giving that information, have they achieveda high level of professional statusé And do they demonstrate students that haveprofessional statusé We have over 300 tutorials on my channel, withthe plethora, which means a lot, of students on my channel, many of which have achievedawesome professional status. Now just quickly go to Sara Loera, check outGabriela Guncikova, 10 second songs' Anthony Vincent, Mark Hudson from Dragon Force, Icould go on and on and on with a lot of the
students that have applied my course and achievedprofessional status. Now what does it mean to become professionaland how do we do ité Well it has to do with strength training andthe way we think about the voice and the way we strength train in order to build enoughprofessional–ism in what it is that we're doing to be able to sing strong with confidencenight after night with consistency. Now, to be a professional singer, there'slots involved in this and it's not just only the physical or musical side, there'sa psychological side to this, but I want to show you a few things that you can do thatwill be really, really awesome. Okayé We're just going to run through a coupleof warmup exercises that will help you understand how to clean up the voice. Now, check out my tutorial on diaphragmatic support, check out my tutorial on open throat technique, it's the precursor of what you're goingto need to do, what we are about to do here
at this level. We're going to sing an AA vowel, and theAA vowel scale is going to go like this. Lay… Ahhh… So AA and Ah, and we're going to actuallyslowly go through this to start to strength train the voice, here we go. Ladies, you'll do this up the octave… Lay…
Ah… Do this with us in octaves… Lay… Ah… Now, going between vowels, AA and Ah helpresiliency and the ability to relax the cords and to, with freedom, be able to go up anddown a scale without feeling tension in the throat, because we want to build strengthfor the sound. Lay…
Learn to Sing Better Free Voice Lessons How to Eliminate the Nasal Sound When Singing
Hey! I am Mark Black and welcome to expertvillage .We are going to be talking about vocal performance. So if you have trouble with a nasally sound,or a thin sound, you should open up your throat, drop your tongue, like a yawn, and as I wouldsay a polite yawn in church, or in a meeting, when you yawn like this, somebody says “youare yawningéâ€ and you say no but you are, and what I am trying to get at is droppingmy tongue, opening my throat and I am enlarging this chamber here, and I am not particularlytelling you to open the jaw, that has an effect, but that is not the effect we are lookingfor right now. Right now we are trying to say make this secondary, this is the primaryresonating chamber of your chest, secondary
resonating chamber is the jaw and is opening, and we want to open that up, so again going from really tight to really open, back toa good sound, listen to this… that is all exactly the same pitch, different resonances, very tight throat, high tongue, opening up to big fat yawn, too much, and relaxing toa nice perfect sound. A good exercise for you if you have trouble with that, is to dojust that but go slower, you will hit a note on the piano, hit it real tight, tight asyou can make it, open up until it's fat, until it sounds stupid, so fat and full, andthen just relax your throat, don't think about closing anything, just relax until youhear a good sound. So that you can get a sound
like this… and somewhere there you wouldsay “I like that sound, but we need extremes: too tight, too open and then relax to a perfectsound, that is to get the tambour to open up, the tambour of your voice, and most peopleare too tight. I am not talking about their attitude, I am talking that their throat istoo closed.
Learn to Sing Better Free Voice Lessons Understanding Vocal Arpeggios When Learning to Sing
Hey! I am Mark Black and welcome to expertvillage .We are going to be talking about vocal performance. Stepwise exercises build facility and skillin other words if I want to be able to sing lyrics or sing… I want to be able to singlike that, I need to do stepwise exercises. Both things are important, but an exerciselike this… or the all time favorite… that is not a good way to build range because onceI hit up here or here and when… every half step of that I am feeling… so I feel allof that and it is harder to do psychologically yes, physically yes but mostly in the head.So what you should do is do arpeggios to build range. Again both kinds of exercises havebenefits for you but arpeggios are going to
build your range, and you got a lot more range.Certain schools of thinking would say basically we are trying to discover your voice, butas to me that is like Arnold saying “I am going to discover if I am a body builder. No, he went and built his body and that is what you are doing with exercises, you aresaying I have done or had or whatever I had a weenie voice and I want to make it a massiveand amazing excellent voice and I can work on it and build it and so okay so maybe youwon't get a seven octave range, you can just be content with a four octave range. So I definitely believe in students to prove it that you can dramatically increase yourrange and the way to do is arpeggios, so I
mostly want to encourage you about that, thereis a lot more range for yourself, than you may be able to think of.
