How to sing like a Pro. Hey guys, my name is Ken Tamplin, and welcometo Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy, where the proof is in the singing. Now, in order for me to be able to teach youhow to sing like a Pro, I'd better have achieved professional status myself, and Ialso better show you that I have students that have gone from amateur status to professionalstatus. Now let's be clear on something. Most professionals themselves don't singwell from a technical standpoint.

Now what does it mean to become professionaland how do we do ité Well it has to do with strength training andthe way we think about the voice and the way we strength train in order to build enoughprofessional–ism in what it is that we're doing to be able to sing strong with confidencenight after night with consistency. Now, to be a professional singer, there'slots involved in this and it's not just only the physical or musical side, there'sa psychological side to this, but I want to show you a few things that you can do thatwill be really, really awesome. Okayé We're just going to run through a coupleof warmup exercises that will help you understand how to clean up the voice. at this level. We're going to sing an AA vowel, and theAA vowel scale is going to go like this. Lay… Ahhh… So AA and Ah, and we're going to actuallyslowly go through this to start to strength train the voice, here we go. Ladies, you'll do this up the octave… Lay…

Ah… Do this with us in octaves… Lay… Ah… Now, going between vowels, AA and Ah helpresiliency and the ability to relax the cords and to, with freedom, be able to go up anddown a scale without feeling tension in the throat, because we want to build strengthfor the sound. Lay…

how to sing VOCAL HARMONY

Hey, Saher Galt here with a singinglesson tutorial for you and in this one we're going to talkabout singing vocal harmony. We're going to do a few beginningexercises to get you into it and by the end you'll be singing a full harmony part. Here we go. An introduction to singing harmony So, if you're not already familiar, vocalharmony is where multiple singers will sing different melodies at the same timeand when it's done right it can sound

otherworldly. In learning to do it one ofthe first things we have to overcome is the tendency to unconsciously match whatthe other singers are doing rather than sing our own part. The trick is really just getting thebrain used to hearing one thing while you're singing another. That's what we'regoing to practice now. First let's get a melodic interval inyour ear a two note melody. We're going to sing this: AH, AH I'm going to play it a few times with youon the keyboard.

Make sure you sustain each note. Sing the lower note: Now the upper note: Again lower: And upper: Now that you've got the melody downyou're going to sing the same thing one more time. On the first note I'm going tomatch you and on the second note we're going toharmonize. Again sing exactly what you've been singing.

Here we go: AH Now hopefully you're able to stay oncourse and sing the same melody that you had been singing, even though ourmelodies diverged. I stayed on the same note you jumped up to the upper note. If yousucceeded then you just harmonized. The next step is to be able to find yourharmony notes not by repetition but by ear. How this isgoing to work is I'm going to play the lower note while its ringing I want you to try and imagine the uppernote. Once you've got it firmly in your mind

sing it the second time I play the lowernote and that should sound like this: OK, got the ideaé Here is the lowernote: Now imagine that upper note. I'm going toplay it again and you sing the upper note. Did you get ité You ought to have beensinging this upper note: Let's try that one more time somewhereelse. We're going to do the same interval, thesame distance, but from a different starting note. This one:

Now try to conjure that same two notemelody we've been singing but simply starting from this new place. Now imagine that upper note and sing it. Hopefully you were singing this. Now to be really good at singing harmony you're going to want to know more than just this one interval. You'll want to practice hearing andsinging them all. With that said, how do we not crack when wesingé Well, why do we crack when we singé I think that's the biggest, most importantquestion. And, to answer that, there's many reasons, but there's two big reasons, andthe first one is physiological. There is a physical strength training of building upto a certain point so that we're strong enough to be able to hold a note. There'sa second part too, which is psychological, which has to do with nerves, and being afraidto sing in front of someone, or being afraid of the high note.Now, I have a singing course called How To Sing Better Than Anyone Else, at Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy , where I walk you through,

stepbystep, all of these different things,on how to strength train, how to think about the notes psychologically so you're notafraid of the high notes or you're not afraid of an audience. We're going to do a couple of scales here. I want you to do them with me, but youhave to know how to control your diaphragm first, to be able to relax the chest, and theneck, and the throat, so that you are not choking off the cord, and panicking by thetime you get there, whether you're holding

a note, or worried about singing a high note, or just a phrase that's a little hard to sing. We're going to do three vowels: ooh, oh, and ah. And it's going to go like this.Now, guys, I'm going to do this in a lower register, for the mean average of where mostguys are. Ladies, you'll do this up an octave. La ah ah ooh, oh, ah, ah, ah, ah…You want to feel the freedom in the throat and the strength in the abdomen, because youknow how to control abdominal strength. Now, in the back of the throat I have another componenttutorial that goes along with this, called Open Throat Technique, where you want to have theback of your throat stay completely open,

your tongue dropped to the base of the jaw:Aw, Oh, Ahhh… To where you create the maximum amount of space in the throat, to relieveany kind of tension that could take place there at all.La ah ah ooh, oh, ah, ah, ah, ah… Feel the strength coming from your diaphragm.It's the engine that drives your car. to know when I'm coming around the cornerand I lose a life from some bad guy that gets me, that if I have strength in my abdomen,and I've learned how to relax my chest, my neck, and my throat, I know how to getto the next level. Now, there's something calledvowel modifications. And in those vowel modifications, we want the throat to feel the path of leastresistance.
